Critical Parameters for Singular Perturbation Reductions of Chemical Reaction Networks

نویسندگان

چکیده

We are concerned with polynomial ordinary differential systems that arise from modelling chemical reaction networks. For such systems, which may be of high dimension and depend on many parameters, it is frequently interest to obtain a reduction in certain parameter ranges. Singular perturbation theory, as initiated by Tikhonov Fenichel, provides path toward reductions. In the present paper we discuss values lead singular reductions (so-called Tikhonov-Fenichel values, or TFPVs). An algorithmic approach known, but feasible for small dimensions only. Here characterize conditions classes networks TFPVs turning off reactions (by setting rate parameters zero), removing species (which relates classical quasi-steady state model reduction). particular, definitive results class complex balanced (of deficiency zero) first order

Quantization formula for singular reductions

In this note, we prove a quantization formula for singular reductions. The main result is obtained as a simple application of an extended quantization formula proved in [TZ2].

Translated chemical reaction networks.

Many biochemical and industrial applications involve complicated networks of simultaneously occurring chemical reactions. Under the assumption of mass action kinetics, the dynamics of these chemical reaction networks are governed by systems of polynomial ordinary differential equations. The steady states of these mass action systems have been analyzed via a variety of techniques, including stoi...

Monotone chemical reaction networks

We analyze certain chemical reaction networks and show that every solution converges to some steady state. The reaction kinetics are assumed to be monotone but otherwise arbitrary. When diffusion effects are taken into account, the conclusions remain unchanged. The main tools used in our analysis come from the theory of monotone dynamical systems. We review some of the features of this theory a...

Concordant chemical reaction networks.

We describe a large class of chemical reaction networks, those endowed with a subtle structural property called concordance. We show that the class of concordant networks coincides precisely with the class of networks which, when taken with any weakly monotonic kinetics, invariably give rise to kinetic systems that are injective - a quality that, among other things, precludes the possibility of...

Identifiability of Chemical Reaction Networks

We consider the dynamics of chemical reaction networks under the assumption of mass-action kinetics. We show that there exist reaction networks R for which the reaction rate constants are not uniquely identifiable, even if we are given complete information on the dynamics of concentrations for all chemical species of R. Also, we show that there exist reaction networks R1 6= R2 such that their d...
